Art of Elysium
Oscar de la Renta
Today’s post was conceived by comments from actor Ed Westwick…. please… let me digress. Last week I had the honor of attending “The Heaven Gala” by The Art of Elysium. A black tie event to raise money and awareness for The AOE (The Art of Elysium). What is The AOE you ask?
The Art of Elysium allows children to be creative and explore a wide range of artistic mediums with the help of Volunteer Artists. Through The Art of Elysium Programs, volunteer artists have the opportunity to work with children, adolescents and families in both small and larger group settings for 90-120 minutes in various inpatient and outpatient medical environments.
My daughter Beau has been involved in this amazing charity for years and inspired my husband, Steve and I to get involved by attending their yearly black tie gala called “HEAVEN.” This year’s “HEAVEN Gala” honored the iconic fashion designer Vivienne Westwood and the crowd was A-list Hollywood. With Johnny Depp and Amber Heard leading the pack along with…. James Franco, Christina Hendricks, Kaley Cuoco, Topher Grace, Nikki Reed, Ian Somerhalder, Zendaya, Minka Kelly and Kelly Osbourne just to name a few. It was an amazing evening to say the least! On to Oscar….
I was planning on wearing a stunning black Alexander McQueen as this Oscar de la Renta gown is so over the top. But then thought why would I not pull out the most amazing dress in my closet to pay homage to this amazing organization and the amazing women who run it. So gown I pulled out…. and must say I am so happy that I did! When young Ed Westwick looking so dapper came to me to tell me his mother said “I had on the best dress of the evening” and asked if we could all take a photo together…. I knew I had made the right choice. So today I thought I would put the Oscar de la Renta gown up next to some real Los Angeles graffiti art….. and let you see the beauty in the details of this hand sewn sequin gown.

PLEASE visit www.theartofelysium.com to see how you can help this amazing charity that does so much wonderful work for the sick children of Los Angeles. After Beau came home from her last volunteer duty and told stories of the day I was brought to tears on just how much this organization truly does to enrich the lives of so many young people in this city. Please help if you can…..
